考研英语（一）长难句解析系列——2005年翻译

　　本文主要论述了在欧洲一体化的大形势下，欧洲电视行业的发展现状以及应该采取的前进方向和应对措施。全文中在长难句方面，难度并非很大。作为2005年考研英语试卷的翻译题，句子难度必然会较前面题型有所提升，尤其是文中所划出并要求翻译的五个句子，无论是在分析理解还是翻译成汉语上，都存在一定难度。但是这篇真题距离现在也已有十多年，与最近的真题相比，难度还是相对较小的。下面就其中划线句子之外的典型例句进行分析：
　　【典型例句1】：It is not easy to talk about the role of the mass media in this overwhelmingly significant phase in European history.
　　【例句解析】：本句主干为 It is not easy to talk about the role。of the mass media是介词短语作后置定语，修饰role。in this overwhelmingly significant phase in European history是介词短语作时间状语修饰主干;其中in European history是介词短语作后置定语，修饰phase。
　　【难点点拨】：mass media：大众传媒;overwhelmingly：压倒性地，非常地;phase：阶段;
　　【例句释义】：在欧洲历史上的这个极其重要的阶段里，要谈论大众传媒的作用，绝非易事。
　　【典型例句2】：The Europe that is now forming cannot be anything other than its peoples, their cultures and national identities.
　　【例句解析】：本句主干为The Europe cannot be anything。that is now forming是that引导的定语从句，修饰Europe。other than its peoples, their cultures and national identities是other than介词短语作比较状语，修饰主干。
　　【难点点拨】：not…..anything other than：正是….，仅仅是….;
　　【例句释义】：目前正在形成的欧洲正是由各民族及其文化和民族认同构成。
　　【典型例句3】：Moreover, the integration of the European community will oblige television companies to cooperate more closely in terms of both production and distribution.
　　【例句解析】：本句主干为the integration will oblige television companies to cooperate其中to cooperate作宾语补足语补充说明television companies。Moreover是副词作状语，修饰主干。of the European community是介词短语作后置定语，修饰integration。more closely作状语，修饰cooperate。in terms of both production and distribution是介词短语作限制状语，修饰cooperate。
　　【难点点拨】：integration：集合，一体化;oblige：迫使;production：生产，制作;distribution：分配，发行。
　　【例句释义】：此外，欧洲共同体的一体化将会迫使电视公司在制作和发行两方面都合作得更加密切。
　　【典型例句4】：This entails reducing our dependence on the North American market, whose programs relate to experiences and cultural traditions which are different from our own.
　　【例句解析】：本句主干为This entails reducing our dependence。on the North American market是介词短语作后置定语，修饰dependence。whose programs relate to experiences and cultural traditions 是whose引导的定语从句，修饰North American market。which are different from our own是which引导的定语从句，修饰experience and cultural traditions。
　　【难点点拨】：entail：导致，需要;
　　【例句释义】：这需要降低我们对北美市场的依赖，他们的节目中有着与我们完全不同的经历和文化传统。
　　【典型例句5】：This also involves the agreements between European countries for the creation of a European bank for Television Production which, on the model of the European Investment Bank, will handle the finances necessary for production costs.
　　【例句解析】：本句主干为This also involves the agreements。between European countries是介词短语作后置定语，修饰agreements。for the creation of a European bank for Television Production是介词短语作后置定语，修饰agreements。which, on the model of the European Investment Bank, will handle the finances necessary for production costs是which引导的sing语从句，修饰a European bank for Television Production;其中on the model of the European Investment Bank是介词短语作方式状语，修饰本定语从句;necessary for production costs是形容词短语作后置定语，修饰finances。
　　【难点点拨】：on the model of：按照….的模式;European Investment Bank：欧洲投资银行;finances：资金;
　　【例句释义】：这也包括欧洲各国需要达成协议、创建一个欧洲电视制作银行。这个银行将会，按照欧洲投资银行的运作模式，处理电视制作经费所必须的资金。
