2019考研英语翻译真题解读：环境

　　circumstances seem to be designed to bring out the best in us //and if we
feel that wehave been “wronged” //then we are unlikely to begin a conscious

        　　词汇要点：
        　　1) design //v. 设计，预定，指定
        　　2) wrong //v. 受到委屈，受到不公正对待
        　　结构要点：
        　　1) 第一个并列句的主干是circumstances seem to…;
        　　2) and连接第二个并列句，if条件状语从句主干事if we feel that…，that是宾语从句;
        　　3) 与if条件状语从句对应的主句是then we are unlikely to…。
        　　汉译逻辑要点：
        　　1) be designed to本来是“被设计来做…”，习惯说“旨在…”。bring
out有“出版，推出;使显出;激起，引起”等意思，考虑到下文是the best in
us(我们的最好的东西)，可以翻译为“激起，激发，引起”。说“激发我们的最好的东西”，其实就是“激发我们最大的潜能”。
        　　2) wrong当动词用，是比较正式的用法，有“受到委屈，受到不公正对待”等意思。wehave been
“wronged”可以翻译为：我们一直受到了委屈。这样直接翻译是可以接受的，但是总觉得“受到了委屈”话没有说完：受到了谁的委屈?如果看看上下文就知道，上文说If
circumstances always determined the life and prospects of people,then humanity
would never have progressed.(如果环境总能够决定人的生活和前途，那么人类就不能够进步)，看得出来，we feel that we
have been “wronged”是说“周围的环境让自己觉得委屈了”。所以，可以调整为：我们总觉得“上天不公”。
        　　3) we are unlikely to可以翻译为“我们不太可能”，begin a
consciouseffort直接翻译是“开始一个刻意的(或者有意识的，自觉的)努力”，escape from our
situation是“逃离我们所处的环境”，其实就是“摆脱自己的处境，脱离现状”

        　　环境似乎旨在激发我们的最大潜能，如果我们总感觉“上天不公”，就不太可能有意识地去努力摆脱自己的处境。
