community可以直接翻译为：土地群落中的很多因素。但是，“土地群落”，在专业上习惯用“陆地生物群落，陆生群落”。这样一来，elements就最好不要翻译为“因素”，而是指陆生群落中的“很多物种”。

functioning是两个并列的that定语从句，可以翻译到前面去修饰many elements。
