(2) Your actions more than satisfy my requirements.
3. I must go now. ________, if you want that book I’ll bring it next time.
[A] Incidentally
[B] Accidentally
[C] Occasionally
[D] Subsequently
选A。 可以由“附属地”引申为“顺便”,相当于by the way。
4. He did not accept as well-founded the charge made by some of his critics that, while he was a good observer, he had no power of reasoning.
特殊用法:accept A as B(认为A是B),在这个句子中,将A和B的位置换了,变成Accept as B A,其实应该是accept the charge .... as well founded,但是charge 后面的跟了made by some of his critics作定语修饰charge,同时还有that同位语从句修饰charge,内容太长,所以为避免头重脚轻就把它提到前面。 He did not accept the charge as well-founded.
5. Probably there is not one here who has not in the course of the day had occasion to set in motion a complex train of reasoning.
熟词僻义:have occasion to do sth 有需要/理由做某事
主句: there is not one
定语从句修饰one:who has not in the course of the day had occasion to set in motion a complex train of reasoning.
6. Your advice would be ________ valuable to him, who is at present at his wit’s end.
[A] exceedingly(=very) [B] excessively(过量地,贬义)
[C] extensively (广阔地) [D] exclusively(排他地,独占地;only)
选A,exceedingly=very。 excessively(过量地,贬义);extensively (广阔地);exclusively(排他地,独占地;only)。 有许多副词可以表示“非常”,常见的如:extremely/exceedingly/ /impossibly/bitterly/perfectly/highly/considerably等。 |
