    词汇要点：
    1) profoundly //adv. 极深地，深刻地，深奥地
    2) rest on // 取决于，依靠，建立在...上，根据
    3) convention //n. 大会，习俗，惯例
    结构要点：
    1) 句子的基本结构是the idea…rests on…;
    2) idea后面的that是同位语从句;
    　　汉译逻辑要点：
    1) But the idea that…rests
on…是整个句子的主干部分。这里有两种汉译方案，其一，先说出这个观点“有一种观点认为…，这种观点取决于…”;还有一种把这个that同位语从句翻译到观点前“记者…的观点取决于…”，或者直接摆出观点“记者…，这种观点取决于…”。都行。
    2) 要注意an understanding后面的修饰语是of the establishedconventions and special
responsibilities;而of the news media修饰的是the established conventions and special
responsibilities(这里只有一个定冠词the)。
    3) established conventions可以翻译为“已经建立起来的习俗”，或者说“既定习俗，既定惯例”。
    　　完整译文：
    但是，“记者必须比普通市民更加深刻的了解法律”的这种观点取决于对新闻媒体的既定习俗和特殊责任的了解。
    或：但是，有一种观点认为“记者必须比普通市民更加深刻的了解法律”;这种观点取决于对新闻媒体的既定习俗和特殊责任的了解。
