More students avoid national physics exam, causing worry
新高考弃物理成趋势 我们究竟应不应该放弃物理
导读:开学季虽然告一段落，但围绕教育的话题却层出不穷。近日，有媒体报道，在实行新高考改革的上海，选择物理科目的考生仅占总数的30%;浙江的近30万考生中，选考物理的也只有8万人。物理学科被考生“嫌弃”，这与曾经流行的“学好数理化，走遍天下都不怕”的口号形成鲜明对比。
More students are avoiding physics during the national
university entrance exam, or gaokao, which could cause a decline in expertise,
China’s Science and Technology Daily reported.
据《中国科技日报》报道，越来越多的考生倾向于在高考时选择弃考物理，该现象很可能导致日后该领域专家人才的大量流失。
Following new regulations on the gaokao in east China’s Zhejiang Province
and Shanghai, students are required to take exams on three compulsory subjects -
Chinese, mathematics and a foreign language. But they can choose three optional
ones from politics, history, geography, physics, chemistry, biology and science
in other tests.
根据浙江省和上海市的最近高考政策，数学、语文和外语是考生的必考科目，但是学生可以从政治、历史、地理、物理、化学、生物和科学等科目中任选三门作为选考科目。
Only about 80,000 of the total 291,300 test takers in Zhejiang took physics
last year, Chinese media reported, while in Shanghai only 30 percent of
candidates did the same.
据国内媒体报道，去年高考浙江全省29.13万考生，选考物理的只有8万人。在上海，高考时选择物理科目的考生也仅占总人数的30%。
"Compared with other subjects, physics is more difficult," said Sun
Guobiao, a veteran physics teacher in Zhejiang’s Keqiao Middle School, who added
that in the gaokao scoring system, it is difficult to get high marks with fewer
students taking the test.
“相对于其他科目，物理学科比较难是主因。”浙江省柯桥中学资深物理教师孙国标这样说道，并补充道：在现如今的高考体制下，考生基数越少，想得到高分越难。
"Physics can solve many questions in our dailylife and is of great benefit
to improve our abilities of logic thinking, observing, modeling and
calculating," Sun said.
孙国标老师还强调道：“物理这门学科可以解答很多生活中的问题，对提高人们的逻辑思维能力、观察实验能力、建模能力和计算能力等都大有益处。”
Beijing is also trying to promote new gaokao regulations this year, so some
students are thinking of giving up physics, according to Chinese media.
国内媒体报道，由于北京也试图在今年实行全新高考制度，许多考生也开始考虑弃考物理。
"If the situation continues, many excellent physics teachers will disappear
in future, which will be a crushing blow to the subject," Sun said.
“如果这种局面持续下去，未来我们会失去一大批优秀的物理教师，这对物理领域来说也将是一个毁灭性的打击。”
Hong Wen, vice president of the Yuanpei Academy of Educational Science,
agreed, saying the nation will face a shortage of physics talent that will
affect industrial development.
元培教育研究院副院长洪文对此也非常担忧，并表示长此以往，国家物理人才会出现断层。
Teachers and middle schools are trying to stimulate interest in physics by
inviting experts to deliver speeches and give lessons to student face-to-face.
Keqiao Middle School has invited well-known physics experts to outline new
developments in sciences and technologies to students. The high school
affiliated to Renmin University of China in Beijing also invited physics experts
such as Fang Zhong from Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Physics to
give lectures.
很多中学的教师都在试图通过邀请专家进行讲座并和学生面对面交流的方式来激发学生们对物理的兴趣。柯桥中学也邀请了很多知名的物理教授为学生们讲解现代科学技术的最新发展动态。北京人大附中也邀请诸如方忠等中国科学院物理研究所的知名教授来学校进行相关讲座。
Other experts, including Hong and Sun, also suggest an adjustment to the
gaokao examination and scoring system. The physics exam should not be avoided by
students who will take it as their major at university, Hong said.
包括洪文和孙国标等在内的专家均建议对当前的选考制度进行适度调整。洪文认为，对于那些今后将要在大学内选择物理作为专业的考生来说，物理应该列为“必考”科目，而不是可选项。
