    A slower increase in salaries in 2016 across China confirms the country is
experiencing an economic slowdown, but that a drop in salaries is unlikely,
experts said Tuesday.
    2016年，中国的最低工资标准增长幅度放缓，这充分体现了我国正走向经济下滑的低迷期，但专家表明，目前工资下滑还是不太可能的。
    Compared to 2015 salary guidelines, those for 2016 have grown at a slower
rate in most of the 19 provinces and regions that have so far published their
annual guidelines for firms.
    与2015年的最低工资标准相比，2016年19个省和地区的企业公开的工资数据呈缓慢增长趋势。
    Shanghai has reduced its wage increase to 8 percent from last year’s 10
percent.
    上海企业的工资增长幅度由去年的10%下降到了8%
    Salary guidelines are issued by local governments as a reference to help
firms decide how much they should increase their employees’ salaries. They are
based on labor market conditions and economic growth, among other factors.
    最低工资标准是由政府制定用来作为企业决定员工工资涨幅的参考数据。其影响因素包括劳工市场条件，经济发展现状以及其他因素。
    "Since China’s labor contract law was adopted in 2007, wage increases have
surpassed economic growth," said Wang Jiangsong, a professor at the China
Institute of Industrial Relations, told the Global Times.He said the slowdown
reflects China’s economic downturn.
    中国劳动关系学院教授王江松告诉环球时报“自从中国2007年通过了劳动合同法后，工资增长幅度就大大超过了经济增长幅度”。他还说到：“工资增长的放缓是中国经济下滑的表现。”
    However, Zhang Chewei, deputy director of the Chinese Academy of Social
Sciences’ Institute of Population and Labor Economics, said the slower increase
will not result in a decline in wages any time soon, the Ningxia Daily
reported.

    Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province has not released salary guidelines
in years. Wang said the region has been experiencing a recession, therefore,
wages have not increased.
    东北的黑龙江省近几年都没有公布最低工资标准，王教授说到，这个地区一直都处于经济衰退期，因此工资涨幅几乎为零。
