        Exam leak
    The annual provincial civil service exams took place on April 23, and some
test takers from Jiangxi province made posts online claiming some of the
questions were the same as what they saw on other practice materials. The human
resources department of Jiangxi has started investigating the alleged exam
leak.
    4月23日，全国多省公务员考试举行笔试。考试结束后，部分江西省考生在网上发帖表示，考题与他们之前在复习材料上遇到的试题相同。江西的人力资源部门已经开始对疑似泄题事件展开调查。
    马上学：Leak“泄露”可以用作名词也可用作动词。考试泄题，也可以说leak of……(科目)test answers，或者leak of
questions，或者leak

    Release of captive animals
    Legislators discussed the need to control the unregulated release of
captive animals, while deliberating over the newest revised draft of the wild
animal protection law on April 27. These releases can have serious consequences.
Recent media reports have shown that illegally released foxes and snakes cause
damage to the environment and wreak havoc in urban settings.
    4月27日，立法部门对野生动物保护法修订草案进行审议，讨论增加“禁止随意放生”的相关规定。随意放生可能导致非常严重的后果。最近有媒体报道，非法放生的狐狸和蛇既破坏环境，也破坏城市建设。
    马上学：“放生”指把捉住的动物放掉，动词可以用release或者free。口语中“放生”可以说let it go，如：I netted a fish
but then decided to let it go。
    　　Human head transplant
        换头术
    Italian surgeon Sergio Canavero claims he is ready to perform the world’s
first human head transplant thanks to technological advances, VOA news reported
on April 29. The transplant procedure is expected to take 36 hours, and the
patient will be able to walk within a year of the operation. But other medical
experts are not optimistic about his plans.
    据《美国之音》4月29日报道，意大利神经外科医生卡纳韦罗宣布，由于技术上的进步，他已经准备好实施世界上首例换头术。换头术整个过程预计需要36小时，患者在手术后一年内的时间就可以下地行走。但是其他医学专家对于卡纳韦罗的计划并不乐观。
    马上学：和换头相比，其它器官移植(organ transplant)已经相对普遍。然而，近年来，医学家对于猴子实施的换头手术均以失败告终。
    　　Restore Cruise
        恢复通航
    On May 2, an American cruise ship became the first to dock in Havana harbor
in more than half a century, as relations continue to ease between the US and
Cuba. Restoring cruise routes between the two countries represents another step
forward after US President Barack Obama and Cuban President Raul Castro
announced a historic rapprochement in December 2014, said Xinhua.
    5月2日，随着美国和古巴之间关系的好转，半个世纪以来首艘从美国驶往古巴的大型邮轮抵达哈瓦那。新华社报道，自2014年12月，美国总统奥巴马与古巴领导人劳尔•卡斯特罗宣布两国将恢复外交关系后，恢复通航预示着两国关系迈出新的一步。
    马上学：Restore有“恢复、复原”之意。自从1961年古巴和美国断交后，美国对古巴实施全方位“贸易禁运”(commercial
embargo)，渡轮服务随之中断。
    　　Like-for-like sales
        同比销售额
    On April 26, Apple reported its first ever drop in like-for-like sales for
the iPhone. The unit sales of the device declined by 16 percent in the first
quarter, compared with the same period a year ago. Currently, iPhone sales are
still the primary source of revenue for Apple.
    4月26日公布的苹果公司财报显示，iPhone手机同比销售额首次出现下滑，这款设备在第一季度的销售额同比减少16%。目前，iPhone的销售额依旧是苹果公司的首要收入来源。
    马上学：Like-for-like意为“同比”，是指与去年同期相比。而like for like则有“以牙还牙”的意思。
