    BEIJING, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Mei Baojiu, a famous Peking opera performer
and son of a legendary Chinese theater mogul, died at the age of 82 on Monday in
Beijing.
    新华网4月25日电——梅葆玖，著名京剧表演艺术家，传奇京剧大师梅兰芳的儿子，周一在北京逝世，享年82岁。
    Mei fell into a coma following a bronchial spasm and died at 11 a.m. in the
hospital, according to the Jingju Theater Company of Beijing.
    梅葆玖突发支气管痉挛后陷入昏迷，并于上午11时在医院抢救无效死亡，据北京的京剧剧团称。
    Born on March 29, 1934 in Shanghai, Mei Baojiu was the ninth child and
successor of Mei Lanfang, one of the most respected Chinese artists of the 20th
century and creator of the "Mei School" style of Peking opera.
    出生于1934年3月29日，上海，梅葆玖是梅兰芳的第九个孩子和其继任者。梅兰芳是京剧“梅派”风格的创始人，是20世纪最受尊敬的中国艺术家之一。
    Mei Baojiu was the head of Mei Lanfang Peking opera troupe under the Jingju
Theater Company of Beijing. He was famous for his performance in such classical
plays as "Farewell My Concubine," "Lady General Mu Takes Command," and "The
Drunken Beauty."
    梅葆玖是北京京剧团旗下的梅兰芳京剧团的负责人。他以经典剧目如“霸王别姬”，“将军夫人穆挂帅”和“贵妃醉酒”等表演著名。
