Two suspects, a male and a female, were dead and one possible suspect in
custody after the deadly shooting that has killed at least 14 people and injured
17 others in San Bernardino City of Southern California on Wednesday (Dec
2).
San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan told a press conference that
police found a suspected explosive device in the Inland Regional Center building
where the shooting happened at around 11:00 am local time. Police are still
searching the building.
The two killed suspects were one male and one female. Both of them had
rifles and handguns. Their dark SUV which they drove to flee was found several
hours later in the afternoon by police and after a while of chasing they stopped
and exchanged gunfire with police at a residential area several miles away from
the shooting scene. Both were killed during the gunfire.
U.S. President Barack Obama on Wednesday renewed his call for stricter gun
control.
"What we do know is that there are steps we can take to make Americans
safer and that we should come together on a bipartisan basis at every level of
government to make these (mass shooting incidents) rare as opposed to normal,"
said Obama in an interview with the U.S. TV network CBS News.
"We should never think that this is something that just happens in the
ordinary course of events, 'cause it doesn't happen with the same frequency in
other countries,'" he said, echoing the remarks he had already used on several
occasions this year after mass shooting incidents.
control)。 (Second
control等敏感字眼,换之以“购枪者背景审核(background checks)、禁售攻击性枪支与大容量弹夹(get weapons of war and
massive ammunition magazines off our streets)”等具体措施来呼吁实行更严格的控枪政策。
