        Quantum communication satellite
    China has launched Micius, the world’s first quantum satellite, from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Gansu province on Aug 16. Its creators’ two-year mission was to develop a “hack-proof” quantum communications network that can transmit *indecipherable encryption keys from outer space back to Earth, said Xinhua News Agency. The first *demo of quantum key distribution took place in the 1990s, kicking off a quantum communication race.
    8月16日，我国在甘肃酒泉卫星发射中心成功发射了世界首枚量子卫星“墨子号”。据新华社报道，在为期两年的任务期内，“墨子号”将建立“防破解”的量子通讯网络，从外太空向地球传输不可破译的密码。上世纪90年代，科学家开始进行首个量子密码样本传输实验，打响了全球量子通讯的竞赛。
