    THAAD anti-missile system
    On July 8, the US and the Republic of Korea (ROK) announced that they will deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), an advanced anti-missile system, in the ROK. Countries in the area including China and Russia have expressed strong opposition to the decision, saying it will destabilize security in the region. China said it will consider taking necessary measures to safeguard national and regional security.
    7月8日，美国与韩国宣布，将在韩国部署萨德导弹防御系统。包括中国和俄罗斯在内有关国家对这一决定表达强烈反对，并表示会动摇地区安全格局。中方表示，将考虑采取必要措施维护国家与区域的安全。
    　　马上学：“萨德”系统全名为“末段高空区域防御系统”(THAAD)，是目前唯一能在大气层内和大气层外拦截弹道导弹的陆基高空远程反导系统。
