     1. But that,Pearson points out, is only the start of manmachine integration:“It will be the beginning of the long process of integration that will ultimately lead to a fully electronic human before the end of the next century.”

     【译文】 但皮尔森指出，这个突破仅仅是人机一体化的开始：“它是人机一体化漫长之路的第一步，最终会使人们在下世纪末之前就研制出完全电子化的仿真人。”
     【析句】 本句应该看作是两个句子，这样更容易理解：一是冒号前面的部分，一是冒号后引号里面的句子。在前一个句子中，主语是that,is是谓语系动词，only the start of manmachine integration作表语，Pearson points out为插入语。在引号之内，句子主干当然是It will be the beginning of the long process of integration,后面跟了一个定语从句，修饰integration。before the end of the next century作状语。
     【讲词】 man-made意为“人造的”，其同义词artificial也很常用。
integration意为“综合，整合，融合”。We encourage the integration of refugees into the mainstream society.（我们鼓励难民融入主流社会。）This study will cover the integration of environmental,social and political issues.（这一研究将涵盖环境、社会和政治问题的整合。）

     2. And home appliances will also become so smart that controlling and operating them will result in the breakout of a new psychological disorder — kitchen rage.

     【译文】 家用电器将会变得如此智能化，以至于控制和操作它们会引发一种新的心理疾病——厨房狂躁。
     【析句】 本句是一个复合句，主句为And home appliances will also become so smart,后面的句子成分（that controlling… kitchen rage)是一个结果状语从句。在从句中，controlling and operating them是主语，谓语是will result in,宾语是the breakout of a new psychological disorder,而kitchen rage则是a new psychological disorder的同位语。
     【讲词】 smart如果用来描述机器，那么该词的意思是“智能的”，如smart machine就译为“智能机器”。
breakout是动词词组break out(爆发）的名词形式。Tensions rose after the breakout of the news.（消息传出以后，形势变得紧张起来。）The breakout of SARS was a major event in the first half of 2003.（在2003年的上半年，非典的爆发是一个重大的事件。）另可表示“逃脱，越狱”等。rage意为“愤怒，情绪激动，狂暴，精神错乱”。例如：My father was in a rage last night.（我父亲昨天晚上十分生气。） rage作动词主要表示“发怒”。kitchen rage是指人到了厨房会变得狂躁，这是一种 psychological disorder（心理疾病，也可以说成mental disorder)。
