     1. Defenders of science have also voiced their concerns at meetings such as “The Flight from Science and Reason,” held in New York City in 1995,and “Science in the Age of (Mis)information,” which assembled last June near Buffalo.

     【译文】 科学的捍卫者们也在一些会议上表示了他们的担忧，如1995年在纽约举行的“远离科学和理性”会议，以及去年6月在布法罗附近召开的“信息（迷信息）时代的科学”会议。
     【析句】 句子的主干（Defenders have voiced their concerns at meeting）并不复杂，但是介词短语较长。such as引导的成分是meetings的同位语，举例介绍了两个会议，并且说明了会议的名称以及时间和地点。
     【讲词】 voice在句中作动词，意为“表达”。At the meeting,he voiced his opposition to the policy.（他在会上表达了他对这项政策的反对意见。）The president voiced his satisfaction with regard to the bilateral relations.（总统对两国的关系表示满意。）
     assemble意为“集合；聚集；装配”。All the students assembled in the school auditorium.（所有的学生都到学校的礼堂集合了。）His area of research is self assembled nanostructures.（他的研究领域是自组装纳米结构。）

     2. A survey of news stories in 1996 reveals that the anti-science tag has been attached to many other groups as well,from authorities who advocated the elimination of the last remaining stocks of smallpox virus to Republicans who advocated decreased funding for basic research.
