　　America is not an easy place for atheists. Religion pervades the public sphere, and studies show that non-believers are more distrusted than other minorities.
　　Several states still ban atheists from holding public office. These rules, which are unconstitutional, are never enforced, but that hardly matters. Over 40% of Americans say they would never vote for an atheist presidential candidate.
　　在这两个段落中，我们应该怎样来学习呢：

　　在这5个小句子中， 句式都不算复杂，比起句子本身的内容，宗教对于整个美国社会的重要性才是最凸显的。
　　第一个句子中的“an easy place for atheists”，无神论者的乐土，就已经在侧面暗示了宗教的重要意义，故而对于无神论者而言，美国并不是一块合适的“栖息地”；
　　第二个句子中，也许基础较差的人会将studies误认为谓语动词，但是只要仔细分析句子，studies在此处的名词词性就比较容易发现；；且在这个句子中还嵌套着一个宾语从句“show that”及比较结构“more distrusted than”；
　　第三个句子中，只需要识别“ban...from doing 禁止某人做...”即可；
　　第四个句子中，主干为These rules are never enforced, but that hardly matters；中间嵌套非限制性定语从句“which are unconstitutional”；
　　第五个句子中，识别出省去了that的宾语从句，即“Over 40% of Americans say that they would never vote for an atheist presidential candidate.”
