【译文】但是到2009年末，西门斯女士却因任职于高盛公司薪酬委员会而广受批评：她怎么能没有注意到那些巨额奖金的发放呢？
【析句】多重复合句，主句为Ms.Simons was under fire for...,结构简单，注意有两个短语under fire等于criticized，sit on相当于take the position of. 分词后是简单句的分句，could she have let...时态为虚拟语气。
2. They found that after a surprise departure, the probability that the company will subsequently have to restate earnings increased by nearly 20%. (2011. 阅读. Text 1)
【译文】他们发现在意外离任后，其所在公司随后必须重述盈余的概率增加了近两成.
【析句】主句为They found that...that引导宾语从句，宾语从句的主谓宾为the probability incresed by 20%,that the company will have to restate earnings作定语从句修饰probability。
3. But the researchers believe that outside directors have an easier time of avoiding a blow to their reputations if they leave a firm before bad news breaks, even if a review of history shows they were on the board at the time any wrongdoing occurred. (2011. 阅读. Text 1)
【译文】不过研究者们相信，如果外部董事在不良消息出现之前离开公司，他们将能更轻松地避免自己的名声受损，即便历史回顾表明错误正是发生在他们担任董事期间，情况也是如此。
【析句】同例句2结构相似，本复合句的重点在从句。主句为But the researchers believe that宾语从句，从句中又包括主句和从句，主句为outside directors have an easier time...,even if a review of history shows...为让步状语从句。从句的主句中还包含if引导的条件状语从句，而even if从句中同样包含从句，shows 后they were on the board是宾语从句，at the time则引导时间状语从句。
