【析句】多重复合句，主句为spending of any sort became unfashionable, esp. in New York 作地点状语，where the bail-out of the banks…jobs and…investors为定语从句修饰New York。主句前in the weeks and months是时间状语，后面也有that引导的定语从句修饰weeks and months。
2. The current downturn in the art market is the worst since the Japanese stopped buying Impressionists at the end of 1989, a move that started the most serious contraction in the market since the second world war…(2010. 阅读. Text 1)
【译文】艺术市场的低迷现状是自1989年末以来最糟糕的时期，当年日本人不再购买印象派作品，导致了二战以来艺术市场最严重的缩水。
【析句】多重复合句，主句为The current downturn is the worst, since the Japanese…1989为时间状语从句，a move作the Japanese stopped buying…的同位语，后面是that引导的定语从句。
3. What makes this slump different from the last, he says, is that there are still buyers in the market, whereas in the early 1990s, when interest rates were high, there was no demand even though many collectors wanted to sell..(2010. 阅读. Text 1)
【译文】他认为，这次衰退与上次的不同之处在于如今市场中仍然存在顾客，而在利率居高不下的20世纪90年代初，尽管许多收藏家有意抛售手中的藏品，却找不到买家。
【析句】本句是引用自某人的观点，he says.多重复合句的主句为What makes this slump differet from the last is (that引导的表语从句)，whereas there was no demand为表示转折的状语从句，状语从句中又包含两个从句：when interest rates were high是定语从句修饰in the early 1990s,even though则引导让步状语从句。
