1. In his book The Tipping Point, Malcolm Aladuell argues that "social epidemics" are driven in large part by the actions of a tiny minority of special individuals, often called influentials, who are unusually informed, persuasive, or well connected. (2010. Text 3)
具体来看,宾语从句中的主句是social epidemics are driven...special individuaols, often called influentials作插入语,who are...
2. The researchers' argument stems from a simple observation about social influence, with the exception of a few celebrities like Oprah Winfrey — whose outsize presence is primarily a function of media, not interpersonal, influence — even the most influential members of a population simply don't interact with that many others. (2010. Text 3)
The researcher's argument stems from...influencek, with the exception...Oprah Winfrey作伴随状语,破折号内whose引导定语从句修饰Oprah Winfrey,最后是一个简单句,注意even是副词,不能引导从句。
3. For a social epidemic to occur, however, each person so affected, must then influence his or her own acquaintances, who must in turn influence theirs, and so on; and just how many others pay attention to each of these people has little to do with the initial influential. (2010. Text 3)
分号前,主干是each person must then influence...acquaintances,acquaintances有who引导定语从句修饰;分号后,just how many others pay attention...people作主语从句。
