Top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said the country has been turned into "a powerful nuclear weapons state ready to detonate self-reliant atomic and hydrogen bomb".

金正恩称：“我国已经能够成为一个准备好使用自主研制的原子弹和氢弹来坚决维护国家主权和民族尊严的核大国。”
Kim said the nuclear bombs are aimed at defending the country's sovereignty and the nation's dignity, when he gave field inspections on a remodeled revolutionary site.
此话一出，立刻在国际社会上掀起波澜。中国率先表态，11日在中国外交部例行记者会上，针对此事，发言人华春莹表示，中方一贯主张坚持实现朝鲜半岛无核化、坚持维护半岛和平稳定、坚持通过对话协商解决问题，希望有关各方为维护半岛和平稳定和早日重启六方会谈作出建设性努力。
Beijing called on Thursday for constructive efforts to ease tension on the Korean Peninsula. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a news conference in Beijing that China has consistently upheld achieving denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, safe-guarding peace and stability there and resolving issues through dialogue and reconciliation. Hua said all parties involved are expected to make constructive efforts to do more to help ease the situation and to achieve an early restart of the Six-Party Talks.
朝鲜拥有氢弹的真实性再次成为舆论讨论的焦点，早在2005年朝鲜就正式宣布拥有核武器。在2006年、2009年和2013年，平壤进行了多次地下核试验，在国际社会引起强烈反响。
