        　　【分析】复合句。主干为The current emphasis...highlights analysis and procedure...。现在分词短语meaning that...作伴随状语，其中that引导的从句作meaning的宾语。
        　　【译文】目前对标准化测试的注重突出了分析和程序这两种思维模式，也就意味着我们中很少有人本能地运用我们创新和合作的思维模式。
        　　【点拨】1)emphasis为名词，意思为“强调，重点”，常与on/upon搭配使用，常见短语是put emphasis on sth .2) highlight 属于常考词汇，作及物动词讲时以为“强调，突出，使显著”，作名词时意为“最突出(或最精彩)的部分，最重要(或最有趣)的事情”。3)collaborative“(用作定语)合作的，协作的”。
        　　“This breaks the major rule in the American belief system ---that anyone can do anything ,”explain M.J.Ryan,author of the 2006 book This Year I Will ... And Ms.Markova’s business partner.
        　　【分析】复合句。引号内的句子包含that引导的同位语从句，对the major rule进行解释说明;author of...partner是M.J.Ryan的同位语。

        　　【点缀】break在句中的意思是“破坏(约束)，违反”，因此break the rule 指“违反规定/规则”;break the law意为“违法”。

        　　【分析】并列复合句。由but连接的两个并列分句。第一个分句是强调句，强调主语a wise father;第二个分句中or 连接两个并列谓语，其中that引导的从句作confirm的宾语。
        　　【译文】贤父知其子。但是，如今男人却可以提升自己的父性智慧——或者说，至少可以确认自己是孩子的父亲。
        　　【点拨】1)boost 是及物动词，意为“推进，提高，增加”。2)paternal意为“父亲的，父方的”，与其对应的词是maternal“母亲的，母方的”。

        　　【点拨】1)prescription 意为“处方，药方，处方上开出的药”。2)over-the-counter是合成词，意思是“可以在柜台上卖的药”，指非处方药，一般缩写成OTC。
        　　语法拓展 more than结构的理解与翻译
        　　1)“more than+动词或名词”表示“不仅是，非常，十分”等。例如：Because of its intimacy , radio is usually more than just a medium ; it is company.收音机与我们的生活息息相关，所以它不只是媒体，更是我们的伙伴。
        　　2)“more than+形容词”表示“非常”。英文中，more than后面可以接一个形容词，这时more than 本身相当于一个程度副词，用来修饰形容词，可理解为“非常，十分”。例如：The USA remains more than capable of holding Iraq down,while confronting North Korea and Iran-its next main targets.美国在推翻伊拉克的同时，完全还有实力与其接下来的两个主要打击目标—朝鲜和伊朗—来对抗。
        　　3)“more than+数字”表示“多于”。例如本句。
        　　4)Nothing more then结构，表示“只不过是”，类似于nothing but 短语。例如：The individual TV viewer invariably senses that he or she is nothing more than an anonymous, statistically insignificant part of a huge and diverse audience.每一位电视观众总会觉得，在众多形形色色的观众当中，自己只不过是无足轻重的一份子。
        　　5)No less than/nothing less than结构：这里的no less than相当于no more than 的反义短语，表示“不少于···”;nothing less than是nothing more than的反义短语，表示“不亚于··· ，相当于···”。例如：This alone demonstrates that the television business is not an easy world to survive in,a fact underlined by statistics that show that out of eighty European television networks, no less than 50% took a loss in 1989.这一点就足以证明，要在电视行业里生存下来并非易事。统计数字尤其说明了这一事实—在八十年代欧洲电视网中，多达50%在1989年亏损。
        　　6)More than...can表示“达到不可能的程度”或“简直不能”，此句式中的can形式上是肯定的，而实际上意义是否定。例如：The beauty of the place is more than I can describe.那地方的景色之美简直让我无法形容。
