　　本文主要讲述时代华纳公司董事支持董事长莱文及其经营策略，但也有一些担忧。全文中在长难句方面，难度较低，从句嵌套较少。下面就其中的典型例句进行分析：
　　【典型例句1】：“Is this what you intended to accomplish with your careers?” Senator Robert Dole asked Time Warner executives last week. “You have sold your souls, but must you corrupt our nation and threaten our children as well?”
　　【例句解析】：句子主干是：Senator Robert Dole asked Time Warner executives last week.前后是直接引语。Is this…为一般疑问句。but表转折，连接前后两个分句。情态动词must引导一般疑问句，此处不是表疑问，而是表质问语气。
　　【难点点拨】：accomplish：完成，实现;Senator：参议员;executive：主管，高管
　　【例句释义】：参议员罗伯特·多尔上星期质问时代华纳公司高级人员时说：“难道这就是你们要成就的事业吗?你们已经出卖了自己的灵魂，难道你们还非要腐化我们的国家，威胁我们的孩子不成?”
　　【典型例句2】：It’s a self-examination that has, at various times, involved issues of responsibility, creative freedom and the corporate bottom line.
　　【例句解析】：句子主干是：It’s a self-examination that…。that引导定语从句，修饰self-examination。at various times为插入语。of responsibility…为介词短语作后置定语，修饰issues。
　　【难点点拨】：self-examination：自省，反省;corporate：公司
　　【例句释义】：(这样的质问)是不同时期涉及责任、创作自由和公司底线问题的自我反省。
　　【典型例句3】："I think it is perhaps the case that some people associated with the company have only recently come to realize this."
　　【例句解析】：句子主干是：I think…。it is perhaps…引导宾语从句。宾语从句中的that引导同位语从句，解释说明case。associated with the company作定语，修饰some people。
　　【难点点拨】：case：情况，实例
　　【例句释义】：(鲁斯说)“我想跟公司有关系的一些人可能是最近才意识到这一点。”
　　【典型例句4】：“The test of any democratic society,” he wrote in a Wall Street Journal column, “lies not in how well it can control expression but in whether it gives freedom of thought and expression the widest possible latitude, however disputable or irritating the results may sometimes be. We won’t retreat in the face of any threats.”
　　【例句解析】：句子主干是：he wrote in a Wall Street Journal column…。引语分为两部分，一部分在主干前，一部分在主干后，引语的主干句型为The test…lies not in…but in…,however…。of any democratic society介词短语作后置定语，修饰the test。of thought and expression介词短语作后置定语，修饰freedom。However表转折，连接前后分句。

　　【典型例句5】：During the discussion of rock singing verses at last month’s stockholders’ meeting, Levin asserted that “music is not the cause of society’s ills” and even cited his son, a teacher in the Bronx, New York, who uses rap to communicate with students.
　　【例句解析】：句子主干是：Levin asserted that…and even cited…。that引导宾语从句。During…引导时间状语从句。of rock singing verses介词短语作后置定语，修饰the discussion。of society’s ills介词短语作后置定语，修饰the cause。a teacher in the Bronx, New York为插入语，也是his son的同位语。who引导定语从句，修饰his son。
　　【难点点拨】：verse：诗;stockholder：股东;cite：引用，引证
　　【例句释义】：在上个月的股东会议上，大家就摇滚乐的歌词进行了讨论。莱文宣称“音乐不是社会问题的病因”，他甚至自己为例，他的儿子是纽约州布朗克斯的一个教师，用说唱乐的表达方式与学生进行交流。
　　总之，本篇阅读理解难度不大，考察点多为高频考点如定语从句、宾语从句和后置定语。考生需熟练掌握并灵活应用高频考点。面对插入语时，仔细辨认是否是前面名词的同位语，考查角度多比较简单。考生课余时间也可多阅读热点文章和西方社会背景文章，以提高阅读速度和正确率。
