【难点点拨】：downshifting：放慢生活节奏;tired：陈腐的，老一套的
【例句释义】：奇怪的是，大约两年半的时间我写完两部小说后，我这个被美国人称为“放慢生活节奏”的试验，却使我老掉牙的借口变成了现实。

总之，本篇阅读长难句难度较大，句子较长，多考察考生不熟悉的插入语和同位语，故考生除了熟练掌握定语从句等高频考点，还需熟悉插入语和同位语的用法。考生在课余时间可多阅读热点杂志，对热点社会问题有所了解，有利于提高阅读速度和正确率。
