　　Few would dispute that the term applies to the Unabomber, whose manifesto, published in 1995, scorns science and longs for return to a pre-technological utopia. But surely that does not mean environmentalists concerned about uncontrolled industrial growth are anti-science, as an essay in US News & World Report last May seemed to suggest.
　　dispute“怀疑”，也可以表示“争论”；the term指的就是anti-science这个词；apply to“适用于，应用于”；manifesto“宣言，声明”；scorn“轻蔑，藐视”；long for“渴望”；be concerned about“担忧”；uncontrolled“不受控制的”；as引导非限定性定语从句，as的指代内容是environmentalists concerned about uncontrolled industrial growth are anti-science。
　　The environmentalists, inevitably, respond to such critics. The true enemies of science, ..., are those who question the evidence supporting global warming, the depletion of the ozone layer and other consequences of industrial growth.
　　由段首句的such critics可以判断上一段结尾处as的指代内容；who引导定语从句，修饰限定those“那些人”；supporting现在分词充当后置定语，修饰限定evidence；depletion“消耗”；consequence在这里表示“后果”。
　　Indeed, some observers fear that the anti-science epithet is in danger of becoming meaningless. “The term ‘anti-science’ can lump together too many, quite different things,” ... “They have in common only one thing that they tend to annoy or threaten those who regard themselves as more enlightened.”
　　epithet“绰号”；be in danger of doing“有...危险”；lump together可以表示“把...扯到一起，把...混为一谈”；have something in common“有些共同之处”；that引导同位语从句，解释说明only one thing；annoy“惹恼”；enlightened“开明的，进步的”。
