    North Korea bans piercings and Western-style clothing
        朝鲜“去西化”：禁身体打孔 不准穿牛仔裤
    They are already forced to wear regime-approved hairstyles, chosen from a
state-sanctioned list of drab cuts.
    朝鲜民众早已不得不留政府认可的发型，只能从国家批准的单调的理发方式中选择。
    Now North Koreans have been banned from having piercings as part of a
crackdown on Western culture in the secretive regime ahead of its annual
workers’ conference.
    现在他们还被禁止在身上打孔，这是这个神秘的国家赶在劳动党代表大会召开之前严厉打击西方文化行动的一部分。
    The rule, which also forbids wearing Western clothing such as jeans, has
reportedly focused on the North Hamgyong and Yanggang provinces.
    规定还禁止民众穿着如牛仔裤等西方服装。据报道，该规定主要集中在咸镜北道和两江道。
    Both areas border with China, where citizens to have easier access to
information - and cultural trends - from the outside world.

    The ban was uncovered by citizen journalists at Rimjin-gang, a North Korean
news website supported by AsiaPress.

    It is said to be part of the regime’s wider attempts to eliminate
capitalism from society.
    据称这一部分是为了从朝鲜社会中消除资本主义做出更大努力。
    The regime fiercely opposes Western culture in any form and has been known
to send those guilty of "anti-socialist" behaviour to its notorious labour
camps.
    朝鲜政府激烈反对任何形式的西方文化。据知，那些做出社会主义行为的人，会被送到臭名昭著的劳动集中营。
    "A growing number of North Korean people are infatuated with Western
culture," said Ishimaru Jiro, a Japanese reporter who works with citizen
journalists inside the regime.
    与朝鲜内部的民间记者一起工作的日本记者石丸次郎说：“越来越多的朝鲜人迷恋上西方文化。”
    "The crackdown will continue until the end of the upcoming gathering," he
added, referring to the upcoming 7th Congress of the Workers’ Party.
    “这次镇压将会持续到即将到来的集会的结束，”他补充说，这里说的集会指的是朝鲜的第七届劳动党代表大会。
    It was also claimed that "inspection units," consisting of teenagers
dedicated to leader Kim Jong-un, are prowling the streets for those who dare to
break the dress code.
    据称，拥护朝鲜领导人金日成的青少年“纠察队”在街上暗中巡查，以发现那些不按照着装标准穿衣打扮的人。
    "They target supposed capitalist tendencies such as length of skirts, the
shape of shoes, T-shirts, hairstyles, and clothes," Rimjin-Gang reported.
    “临津江”网站报道：“他们力图发现那些显示资本主义倾向的迹象，比如裙子的长度、鞋子的形状、T恤衫、发型和衣着。”
    The North Korean Youth Union (NKYU) volunteers also hunt for unmarried
women doing business in marketplaces, as this is also forbidden.
    朝鲜青年联盟(NKYU)的志愿者也巡查未婚女子在市场做买卖的情况，因为这也是不允许的。
    Youngsters can sign up for the group once they reach the age of 15, and are
sworn to prevent "the corruption of public morals."
    年满15岁的青少年可以申请加入朝鲜青年联盟，他们宣誓要制止“大众思想道德的败坏”。
    North Korea has previously told its male citizens to adopt spartan
Socialist hairstyles no longer than three of four inches.
