    1. They all seem to look alike (though they comefrom all over)— lean,
pointed, dedicated faces,wearing jeans and sandals, eating their buns andbedding
down for the night on the flagstonesoutside the theatre to buy the 20 seats and
80standing-roon tickets held for the sleepers and soldto them when the box
office opens at 10:30 a.m.
    【分析】复合句。句子主干为 They all seem to lookalike，破折号后修饰性短语对句子主干进行补充说明。不定式结构 to
buy...作目的状语;held for 和 soldto 作 tickets 的后置定语，其中又嵌套一个 when 引导的时间状语从句。
    【译文】尽管来自天南海北，但他们看起来都一个样：瘦削，棱角分明，面容专注，身着牛仔裤和便鞋，啃着自带的干果面包，晚上睡在剧院歪的石板上，为了赶在票房早上10:30开门时候，买到为这些露宿者准备的20张坐票和80张站票。

    【分析】简单句。主语是 The large, slow-growing animals;and 连接两个并列的谓语 were 和
werehunted。
    【译文】那些庞大而生长缓慢的动物容易被追逐，因此很快就被猎获殆尽。
    【点拨】1)本句中 game 是“猎物”的意思。2) be hunted to extinction“被猎获殆尽”。

    【分析】复合句。本句中 what 引导主语从句，其中 suchas Ransom Myers and Boris Worm 表列举，is
是系动词。
