　　Mr de Blasio inherited a safe, prosperous city. Crime is still falling, not least because Mr. de Blasio hired Bill Bratton, the cop who cleaned up New York’s incomparably more dangerous streets in the 1990s, as his police commissioner. Mr Bratton has not ended “stop and frisk”, a controversial police tool, which Mr. de Blasio promised to curb during his campaign. He has reformed it instead. Stops are more carefully targeted, with more leading to an arrest or a summons. Mr. Bratton has tried harder to foster good relations between the police and the communities they serve. Until the summer of 2014, morale among the rank and file was good. Now it is awful.

　　在第一个句子中，应该记忆的是该句中的谓语动词（inherited，adj. 遗传的，继承权的，通过继承得到的；v. 继承，经遗传而得）及宾语（a safe, prosperous city）；这些都是可以应用到考研英语写作当中；
　　例如：thriving and prosperous  繁荣昌盛
　　Inherited的同义词：genetic, hereditary, succeeded , followed
　　在第二个句子中，我们应该注意到的是“not least”，其近义词为“especially，notably”（最主要的，重要的），若是在阅读题目当中遇到这几个词，请记得同义替换；然后在这个句子中，考生也可以仔细看一下出现在这个句子中的as用法（作为…），as his police commissioner为Bill Bratton的同位语；
　　在写作当中，许多考生区分不开because与because of ，因此在使用的过程中总是会出现问题：because of之后接名词短语，而because之后接完整的句子；
　　第三个句子可以作为各位考生仿写句式，即名词+同位语结构+非限制性定语从句；
　　第四个句子中包含了一个with结构，在英语当中，with结构作伴随状语（with+n.+动词的现在分词形式）；
　　第五个句子在理解上并没有什么难度，不过考生可以关注下在这个句子的省去了that的定语从句（they serve）；各位考生也需要将the rank and file（“老百姓，普通士兵们”）的意思记住；
