        翻译硕士英语
        北语的翻译硕士英语很注重基础
        1.grammarandvocabulary30分
        20道选择题，今年考的非常基础，就是专四真题的难度
        说明：复习基英时一定要注重基础，特别特别是专四真题，还有星火英语的专四语法练习册也不错，不用做北大、南大、复旦那种学校英语学术硕士里面那样难的题目，注重基础最重要。
        vocabualary也考的很基础，难度专四专八之间，复习时不要太纠结高难度词汇了，掌握需要重点掌握的（比如新东方专八词汇里面的基础部分），我复习用的是《英语专业八级词汇分级背诵与测试手册》
        2.阅读题30分
        也是专四难度，三篇文章，每篇5道题
        A是racialdiscrimination和socialviolence的文章
        B是facialexpression和emotion讲的是世界不同文化的人们即使言语不通也会有某些共同表情，而且不同表情对心理的影响不同
        C貌似是专四真题或者是模拟题，是关于亚非拉地区传染病防治的
        3.问答题10分
        要求阅读文章，用自己的语言解答问题，直接引用原文不给分

        WhatchangedThomasfromamiddlingprosewritertoadazzlingpoetisthecentralthemeofMatthewHollis’sengagingnewbook,whichwontwoawardsforbiographywhenitcameoutinBritainlastyearandisjustnowbeingpublishedinAmerica.MrHollis,apoetandeditor,focusesonthelastfiveyearsofThomas’slifebeforehediedin1917.
        HisbookbeginsinLondon,whereThomasvisitsanewbookshopdedicatedtopoetrythathadjustopenedin“shadyBloomsbury”.AroundthisshopcircledthepoetsthatmadeupliteraryLondonatthattime:EzraPound,anAmerican,whowouldgreetstartledvisitorstohisflatinapurpledressinggown;W.B.Yeats,anIrishpoetandplaywrightwhoshunnednewfangledelectricityinfavourofcandlelightforhiseveningreadings;andRupertBrooke,adashingyoungEnglishpoet,whowoulddieasoldierin1915fromaninfectioncaughtwhilestationednearGreece,andwhosepoetrysold250,000copiesinthedecadeafterhisdeath.
        Lessglamorousoreccentricthanthesefigures,Thomaswasaprolificandoccasionallyacerbicbookreviewer,sixfeettall,“slim,loose-limbedandvigorous”,whostruggledwithnear-suicidaldepression.HehadmarriedwhilestillanundergraduateatOxfordandhisrelationshipwithhiswifeHelenwasatroubledone.Heoftenspenttimeawayonthelongjourneysneededforhistravelbooks,suchasthe“TheIcknieldWay”.
        MrHollisisadeptatevokingtheatmosphereofthetime,andatnegotiatingthecomplicatedfriendshipsandsquabblesbetweenthesepoets.ButitiswhenThomasmeetsRobertFrost,a“Yankee”poetdeterminedtobepublishedinBritainthathisbookcomestolife.ItwasFrost—astocky,quick-temperedfigure—whopersuadedThomastowritepoems,andwhobelievedthat“wordsexistinthemouth,notinbooks”.OnceThomasdecidedtowriteverse,hedidsoquickly.SpurredonbyFrost,andbytheoncomingthreatofwar,atonepointhewrotenearlyapoemaday,includinghismuchloved“Adlestrop”withits“lazed,heat-filledatmosphere…ofthatlastsummerbeforethewar”.MrHollisre-createsThomas’sprocessofwritingbycomparingthedifferingdraftsofhispoems,givinglifetohisprocessofcomposition,andchartingthecorrespondencebetweenThomasandFrostoncethelatterhadmovedbacktoAmerica.
        Inmanyways,Thomaswasadifficult,reticentfigure,whowasquitecapableofsigningoffletterstohismother“Yoursever,EdwardThomas”.EvenafterhehadenrolledintheArtistsRiflesregiment,heremainedpainfullyshyabouthiswork,hidinghispoetryamongcalculationsonthetrajectoryofshells,ordisguisingitasprose.ThismaybeonereasonwhyMrHollistendstoaddresshissubjectformallythroughouthisbook,frequentlybyhisfullname,anddoesnotdelve—beyondpolitespeculation—intothevariousextramaritalromancesThomasmayhavehad.Thosewhowantsuchdetailswillhavetogoelsewhere.Instead,MrHolliscapturessomethingfargreaterthanaman’spersonallife,andfarmoreelusive:thedesireandstruggletowrite,evenwhenyoubegin,asThomasputit,“at36intheshade”.
