A Chinese man from Sichuan Province has joined the Kurdish militia group, the People's Protection Units (YPG) to fight against IS terrorists in Syria.
这位姓"潘"的25岁小伙在九月份从泰国曼谷转机到伊斯坦布尔,最终在10月12日辗转抵达叙利亚境内。出发之前他并没有告诉家人他要去哪里。
The 25-year-old man surnamed Pan flew to Istanbul from Bangkok in September and finally arrived in Syria on October 12. But he didn't tell his family before he arrived.
在接受BBC采访时,小潘说他在国内还没有找到工作工作,又刚和女友分手。他说:"人应该做点有意义的事情,就我个人而言,我能做到的,就是拿起枪去战斗。"
In an interview with the BBC, Pan said he didn't have a job at home and has just broken up with his girlfriend. He said "people should do something meaningful. For me, it is to fight with my gun."
今年3月,23岁的英籍华人黄磊成为加入YPG对抗IS的首位华人志愿者,该新闻一度成为中国媒体上的热门话题。 小潘说自己正是受到黄磊的鼓舞才做出决定的。
In March, Huang Lei, a British Chinese volunteer in YPG has attracted lots of attention on Chinese social media. Pan says he was inspired by Huang Lei's story.
记者称"他的心情时而低落时而高涨,一提到前线战斗便兴奋不已。"
The reporter said "sometimes he sounds rather disappointed; at other times he appears to be enthusiastic and proud."
潘姓小伙还把他持枪作战的照片上传到微博和微信上,他已经在科巴尼前线上战斗过两次了。在他发的微博中他说到"世界上没有什么冲突是一顿烧烤解决不了的,如果有,就再来两瓶泸州老窖。"
Pan posted photos of himself carrying guns via Weibo and WeChat. He has fought on the frontline in Kobane twice. In one of his posts, he said "what would it be like if all the conflicts in the world could be solved by a barbecue. If no, then add two bottles of Baijiu (white liquor)."
