如此之堵
The picture presents a terrible scene. The street is in a mess where all kinds of vehicles have jammed the road, making movement impossible. Also pedestrians are crossing roads chaotically. Obviously, everything is in disorder.
Traffic problem is an inescapable outcome of social and economic development, and therefore is common to most capital cities all over the world. The accelerated urbanization, the rapid increase of private cars, and the lag of road construction are responsible for traffic congestion. Much valuable time is wasted and many important businesses are delayed in the helpless waiting for progress. It’s no exaggeration to say that the inconvenience and losses caused by traffic jams are inestimable.
As the traffic problem involves many factors, there is no single measure that can solve it once for all. For the present, realistic solutions may include: first and for most, we should give priority to improving and developing mass-transit system, both ground and underground; Secondly, the authority should set up proper limits to private vehicles; Thirdly, the related regulations should be made to ensure perfect traffic management; Last but not the least is to advocate bicycling or walking between home and office. I believe by these effective measures, the traffic problem will be solved sooner or later.

The picture presents the change of transports. In the past when our economy is underdeveloped, we all travel by bike. With economy developing, transports have changed from bikes to cars. But traffic problems have emerged accordingly. So now and in future, we need to advocate green travel and low-carbon life for the benefits of our future generations.

What an eye-catching scene is the cartoonist presenting us! A man, holding an axe and standing beside a tree, is wiping his sweat when he heard the tree’s words “Clear-cutting is to be answered for.” It seems that what is conveyed in the cartoon is realistic and thought-provoking.
The author of the cartoon is warning us that we should never sacrifice ecological balance for economic benefits. The past decades did witness a mushrooming development in economy. However, it was at the cost of the squandering natural resources and damaging ecological system, which in turn jeopardized human being’s lives. Such tough lessons should not have happened, but we have found that trees cut down brought big bucks to enterprises but big troubles to the general public.
Therefore, effective measures should be taken to alleviate the environmental destruction. Firstly, the mass media is amendable to transmit positive awareness of environmental protection among ordinary citizens. Secondly, it is advisable that perfect laws should be established by relevant departments. |
