Dear Mr. Smith,
I am writing this letter to show my gratitude to you. I am referring to the help and warm hospitality you gave to me when I attended the meeting.
Because that was my first time in New York, I was not familiar with the life there. It was you who introduced me to your friends, and I was soon to get familiar with the life style there. In two or three days, you will receive a present from me, and I hope you will like it. If there is anything I can do for you, please contact with me without hesitation.
