致歉信的目的是向收信人表明歉意，请求对方对自己的某种过失表示谅解。在写作过程中，事情原委要解释清楚，尽可能提供比较合理的理由。在解释完原因后，尽量提供一个合适的补救方法，使行文更加圆满。道歉信除应及时书写之外，还必须写得诚恳，歉意应发自内心，绝不可敷衍塞责。
辞职信是希望卸任或放弃某份工作的书面陈述。在写作辞职信的时候语气一定要诚恳，尤其要表达遗憾的心情，同时对于雇主曾经给自己这份工作机会表达感激之情。
致歉信和辞职信虽属不同的书信题材，但语域和内容上有相似之处，两者都需要使用诚恳的语言，并且都要传递出遗憾之情，希望能得到收信人的谅解。
二、书信写作要素及流程
(一)致歉信
1、常用表达句
(1)首段：说明写作目的(表示歉意)

③ I am writing this letter to express my regret for...

(2)中间段：说明具体原因， 提出补救方法
① I am sorry that I will not be able to... due to...
很抱歉，我不能……，是因为……
② It is very kind of you to ask us to...But, to our regret, we cannot
accept it.
十分感激您邀请我们……，但很遗憾的是，我们不能接受邀请。
③ I am sorry I cannot... and I trust you that you will be able to
understand.
很抱歉，我不能……，我相信您能理解我。
④ Would you mind if I change the appointment time?
您介意我改变我们的见面时间吗?
(3)尾段：再次致歉，希望得到理解
① Once again, I am sorry for any inconvenience caused.
对给您造成的任何不便再次表达歉意。
