The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is reportedly considering a
proposal that would require foreign students to reapply for visas every year,
reports the Washington Post.
据《华盛顿邮报》报道称，美国国土安全部正在考虑一项提案，要求留学生每年申请一次签证。
The report in the Washington Post says Homeland is considering the move as
part of a tighter national security program.

If implemented, the proposal would add additional costs and paperwork for
foreign students, many of whom come from China.

The Washington Post is reporting the plan is in its early stages, and may
take up to 18 months to complete.

State Department officials would also be required to sign-off on the plan
before it is implemented.

The proposal comes as the Trump administration moves to tighten immigration
controls.

The majority of foreign students in the United States currently come from
China, followed by India and South Korea.
