US President-elect Donald Trump’s tweets about US arms sales after his
protocol-breaking phone call with Taiwan’s leader has spurred speculation that
Trump may increase arms sales to the island, with Chinese analysts warning that
the negative consequences would outweigh any profits.
在美国当选总统川普打破美国长期惯例和台湾领导人直接通电之后，他又在推特上发表了关于美国武器出售的言论，外界纷纷猜测川普可能会增加对台军售，而中国的分析人士们则警告说，增加对台军售所带来的负面影响将远超其所带来的任何利益。
Analysts also believe that the military gap between the Chinese mainland
and Taiwan is too big to be filled by any US arms sales, and selling weapons to
Taiwan is still viewed as an offensive political act from the US to interfere in
China’s domestic policy.
分析人士还认为，中国大陆和台湾之间的军事差距实在太大，不是能够通过美国对台军售可以弥补得了的，而美国对台军售仍然被视为美国干涉中国内政的一种进攻性政治行为。
Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen on Friday spoke on the phone with Trump,
offering her congratulations on his election victory, the first direct phone
call between a US president-elect and a Taiwan leader since mainland and the US
established diplomatic ties in 1979.
上周五台湾领导人蔡英文和川普通了电话，蔡英文向川普的大选胜利表示了祝贺，这是1979年中国大陆和美国建交以来，第一次有美国当选总统和台湾领导人直接通电。
Trump also called Tsai "the President of Taiwan" in a tweet, adding
"interesting how the US sells Taiwan billions of dollars of military equipment
but I should not accept a congratulatory call."
川普在他的推特发文中称呼蔡英文为“台湾总统”，并且表示说“很感兴趣美国是如何向台湾出售数十亿美元军事装备的，但是我不应该接一个祝贺的电话。”
According to the Taipei Times, Taiwan’s "Ministry of Foreign Affairs" last
week welcomed the call by the US Senate and House of Representatives for
military exchanges between senior Taiwan and US officials in the US National
Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in 2017, expressing gratitude to the US
Congress for its continuous efforts in promoting military cooperation between
Taiwan and the US.
据《台北时报》报道称，上周台湾“外交部”欢迎美国2017年《美国国防授权法案(NDAA)》下美台高级官员军事交流美国参众两院代表的来电，感谢美国国会促进台湾和美国之间军事合作的不断努力。
