The visit of Hung Hsiu-chu, chairwoman of Taiwan’s Kuomintang party, to the
mainland this week will be significant for improving the peaceful development of
cross-Straits relations, according to academics.
据学者们介绍，台湾国民党主席洪秀柱于本周对大陆的访问对于增进海峡两岸关系和平发展意义重大。
Hung arrived in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province, on Sunday to start a
five-day visit, making her first stop at the Mausoleum of Sun Yat-sen.
洪秀柱于本周日抵达江苏省省会南京市，开始了为期五天的访问，首站为中山陵。
On Monday, she will fly to Beijing for a forum on the peaceful development
of cross-Straits relations as well as meetings with high-level leaders of the
Communist Party of China.
在星期一，她将飞往北京参加海峡两岸关系和平发展论坛，并与中国共产党高层领导人会晤。
It is the first time Hung has traveled to the mainland since becoming head
of the KMT on March 30.
这是洪秀柱自3月30日成为国民党主席以来首次访问大陆。
Under the current situation, interaction between the two parties and
efforts to consolidate common political ground will have a positive influence on
maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, An Fengshan, a
spokesman for Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on Wednesday.
国台办发言人安峰山于本周三表示，当前，两党的互动以及巩固共同政治基础的努力将会对维持台湾海峡两岸的和平与稳定产生积极影响。
He said the KMT and CPC have maintained communication since a "historic
meeting" in 2005.
他表示，自2005年“历史性会面”之后，国共两党保持着沟通。
"We hope the exchange and interaction between the KMT and CPC can
continue," An said. "Based on the political foundation of the 1992 Consensus,
the two parties could improve cross-Straits relations and the well-being for
people on both sides of the strait."
安峰山表示，“我们希望国共两党保持交流和互动。在九二共识的政治基础之上，两党能够提高海峡两岸关系，为两岸民众带来福祉。”
"Hung is strongly against so-called Taiwan independence," said Ni Yongjie,
deputy director of the Shanghai Institute of Taiwan Studies
上海台湾研究所副主任倪永杰(音译)表示，“洪秀柱强烈反对所谓的‘台独’。”
Liu Guoshen, director of Xiamen University’s Taiwan Research Institute,
praised Hung’s courage to visit the mainland at the current time.
厦门大学台湾研究所主任刘国深高度评价了洪秀柱在当前形势下访问大陆的魄力。
"It’s been a difficult time for cross-Straits relations, but the exchanges
will not stop," he said. "The KMT plays an important role in the peaceful
development of cross-Straits relations."
他表示，“虽然现在是海峡两岸关系的困难时间，但是交流却不会中断。国民党在海峡两岸关系和平发展方面扮演着重要角色。”
