China has launched its first aircraft-engine manufacturer in an attempt to
wean itself off Western suppliers.
中国推出了自己首个飞机引擎制造商，其目的是为了摆脱对西方的供应依赖。
The state-owned Aero-Engine Group of China was created by combining a group
of existing aircraft-engine companies, according to local media reports.
据中国媒体报道，中国整合了现有的一些飞机引擎公司，成立了中国航空发动机集团公司。
It has about 50bn yuan ($7.5bn) in registered capital and will develop both
military and commercial engines.
这家公司的注册资本达到了500亿人民币(约合75亿美元)，在研发军用和民用飞机引擎。
China already makes its own planes, but has struggled for decades to
develop engines that meet global requirements.
中国已经能够自己制造飞机了，但是几十年以来中国一直难以研发出满足全球需求的飞机引擎。

China currently buys its commercial aircraft engines from General Electric
and United Technologies’ Pratt & Whitney. China’s military jets uses
Russian-made engines.
中国目前从通用电气、以及联合技术公司下属惠普飞机公司手里购买民用飞机引擎。中国军用飞机的引擎则采购自俄罗斯。
President Xi Jinping called the new creation of the new company a
"strategic move" aimed at developing China’s reputation as a global aviation
power, Xinhua news agency said.
据新华社报道，国家主席习近平称中国航空发动机集团公司的成立是一个“战略举措”，旨在光大中国作为一个全球航空大国的声誉。
The Chinese government, as well as the Aviation Industry Corp of China
(AVIC) and Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (Comac) are investors in the new
firm.
中国航空发动机集团公司的投资人包括中国政府，中国航空工业集团公司(AVIC)、以及中国商用飞机公司(Comac)。
AVIC makes military jets and helicopters while Comac produces China’s
biggest domestically-produced passenger plane, the C919.
中国航空工业集团公司能够制造军用战机和直升机，而中国商用飞机公司则制造出了中国国产最大客机C919。
