Saudi Arabia's foreign minister Adel al-Jubeirannounced on Sunday to cut
diplomatic ties withIran and asked all Iranian diplomats to leave within48
hours.

Later that night, Iranian protesters stormed the Saudi diplomat mission
against the Saudiexecution of 47 individuals over terrorism charges, including a
Saudi Shiite cleric, Namir AlNamir. Molotov cocktails smashed into the Saudi
embassy. Protesters shouted as it caught fire.Some went inside and ransacked
offices.

Severing ties was a last resort, a source familiar with Saudi Arabia's
decision said, becauseSaudi Arabia views Iran's behavior as unacceptable. "This
was the Saudis saying, 'Enough.We've had it,' " the source said.
