    elgium has advised its citizens to leave Burundi, andthe EU is cutting
staff levels in the country becauseof the "rising risk of violence".
    由于暴力冲突爆发的可能性日益增大,比利时政府已经建议在布隆迪的公民尽快撤离,欧盟也正在削减当地的工作人员数量。
    Belgium says those among about 500 Belgians in the country "whose presence
is notessential" should leave. The EU says it will evacuate temporarily its
employees’ "families andpart of the non-essential staff".
    比利时表示,在布隆迪的500名比利时公民中,非必要人员应该马上撤离。欧盟表示会临时疏散工作人员的家属以及非必要人员。
    The cycle of violence began with protests against President Pierre
Nkurunziza’s bid for a thirdterm. At least 240 people have been killed there
since the demonstrations began in April. Thereare fears of a Rwandan-style
genocide in Burundi, which also has a history of tensions betweenHutu and Tutsi
ethnic groups.

    In a statement on Friday, the Belgian foreign ministry said: "We advise
Belgians who arecurrently in Burundi and whose presence is not essential to
leave the country as soon asnormal measures allow."

    Meanwhile, the EU ambassador to Burundi, Patrick Spirlet, told Reuters that
the "rising risk ofviolence" had prompted the EU mission in the capital
Bujumbura to reduce some staff.However, he stressed that "the delegation will
continue functioning normally".

    These measures come a day after the UN Security Council unanimously adopted
a resolutionstrongly condemning the escalating violence. The French-drafted
resolution also paves theway for a possible deployment of blue-helmeted UN
peacekeepers. It requests that SecretaryGeneral Ban Ki-moon reports within 15
days on options for increasing the UN presence in theimpoverished African
country.

    UN officials are considering a number of alternatives, including rushing in
peacekeepers currentlydeployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo, says the
BBC’s Nick Bryant. But that wouldrequire another vote in the Security
Council.

    In April, Mr Nkurunziza argued that his first term as president did not
count towards theconstitutional two-term limit as he was chosen by MPs. Mr
Nkurunziza was duly re-elected with70% of the vote in July.
