【分析】复合句。句子主干为 More than 60,000 peoplehave purchased the PTKs...。since
引导时间状语从句;according to Doug Fogg 为插入语，其后的chief operating officer of Identigene 是
Doug Fogg 的同位语;which 引导的非限定性定语从句修饰Identigene。
【译文】根据
Identigene(一家生产可以在柜台上出售的工具包的公司)的首席运营官道格·福格所说，从去年不需要处方就能购买后，已经有超过6万人购买了亲子鉴定工具包。
【点拨】1) prescription 意为“处方，药方;处方上开的药”。2) over-the-counter
是合成词，意思是“可以在柜台上卖的药”，指非处方药，一般缩写为 OTC。
2. Among the most popular: paternity and kinship testing. Which adopted

【分析】复合句。句子是主干为 Among the most popular: paternity and kinship
testing。因主句省略了谓语动词，此处的冒号相当于 be 动词 are。 which 引导定语从句，先行词是 paternity and
kinshiptesting。定语从句本身又是由 and 连接的并列句，which 在定语从句中作两个 use 的宾语，put up foradoption
是过去分词短语作 kids 的定语。
【译文】在基因检测中，最受欢迎的是父子血缘关系测试——被收养的孩子可以利用这个测试找到自己生物学上的亲戚，家庭也可以用此来追查被收养孩子的下落。
【点拨】1) track down 意思是“跟踪找到，追查到”。2) put up for adoption 指“将...送给别人收养”。
【临摹】多年来我一直在打听一些老朋友的下落。
3. This DNA can reveal genetic information aboutonly one or two ancestors,

【分析】复合句。句子主干为 This DNA can reveal genetic information...。even though
引导让步状语从句，从句由 or 连接的两个并列分句构成。并列结构中的同等句子成分省略。
【译文】举例来说，只要上溯三代，一个人就会有八个曾父母，或者上溯四代，就会有十六位曾曾祖父母，即便如此，这种 DNA
只能揭示一到两位祖先的基因信息。
4. This means that a DNA database may have a lot of data from some regions
and not others,so a person's test results may differ depending on the company
that processes the results.
【分析】并列复合句。so 连接两个并列分句。前一分句中的 that 引导宾语从句;后一分句中的 that 引导定语从句，修饰 company。
【译文】也就是说，DNA
数据库可能有很多数据是来自某些(相同的)地区而不是另外的地区，所以根据处理那些数据结果的公司的不同，一个人的测试结果也就不同。
【点拨】depend 常与 on/upon 连用，表示“视情况而定”，另外 depend on 还有“依靠;信赖”的意思。
