1. Your humor must be relevant to the audience and should help to show them that you are one of them or that you understand their situation and are in sympathy with their point of view.
【译文】 你的幽默必须与听众有关，应该有助于向他们显示你是他们中的一员，或者你了解他们的情况，同情他们的观点。
【析句】 该句是一个复杂的单句，句子的主语是your humor，后面有两个平行的谓语must be和should help，它们后面分别有其宾语。其中should help后面的宾语是不定式to show，而它的宾语比较复杂，是两个并列的宾语从句：that you are one of them和 that you understand… of view，中间用or连接。
【讲词】 relevant和related的意思差不多。前者表示“相关的，有关主题的”，后者表示“具有一定的联系或关系”。例如：“与毒品有关的犯罪”只能说drugrelated crimes或crimes related to drugs。再者，“你的问题与我们的讨论有关系”，翻成英语应该是：Your question is relevant to our discussion。
to be in sympathy with表示“同情、同意、赞同”，例如：I am in sympathy with your plan.（我赞同你的计划。）

【讲词】 address常用的词义是“地址”，也可以表示“演讲”，例如：Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address（林肯的盖茨堡演讲），to address an audience（对听众发表演讲）。address还可表示“处理”，如to address a problem（处理一个问题）。
appropriate的同义词是proper，反义词是inappropriate或improper。
passing“短暂的，一时的”。
inedible意为“不可食用的”，其反义词为edible。
notorious（臭名昭著）可以被视为famous的反义词。Such a notorious person has got to the top of the company.（这样一个臭名昭著的家伙竟然进入了公司最高层。）
