1. This phenomenon has created serious concerns over the role of smaller economic firms,of national businessmen and over the ultimate stability of the world economy.
【译文】 由于出现了这种现象，人们对小型企业和民族资本的作用以及世界经济的最终稳定深感忧虑。
【析句】 全句的主干是This phenomenon has created serious concerns。人们的担忧实际包含两个方面（即句子的两个状语），一是the role（of smaller economic firms,of national businessmen），一是the ultimate stability（of the world economy）。但是由于两个状语太长，建议在翻译时调整一下句子的结构，这样句子肯定更通畅些。
【讲词】 smaller economic firms如果译成“更小的经济公司”显然不适合，因为汉语没有这个概念。这里的economic有“实业”的意思，因此应该译成“小型企业”。
national businessmen译成“国家的商人”会让人不知所云，怀疑是不是“官商”，但实际是指民族资本家。
2. I believe that the most important forces behind the massive M&A wave are the same that underlie the globalization process: falling transportation and communication costs,lower trade and investment barriers and enlarged markets that require enlarged operations capable of meeting customers demands.

【析句】 本句主语为I，谓语为believe，that引导了believe的宾语从句，而这个宾语从句又包含另一个宾语从句，即that underlie the globalization process。冒号后面的句子成分是the most important forces的同位语，其中markets跟了一个定语从句。
【讲词】 underlie意为“在下面，作基础；解释”，在句中的意思是support（支持，推动）。Many factors underlie my decision.（许多的原因促使我作出这一决定。）
barriers意为“障碍物，壁垒”，trade barrier(s)指“贸易壁垒”。
operations意为“经营，运作，（军事）行动”。
meet sb's demands(needs,requirements)是一个固定搭配，意为“满足某人需求”，当然demand等也可以是单数，视具体情况而定。
