【析句】复合句的主句是Steelworkers, airline employees and now those...are joining millions of families, who must worry about...harsh reality是定语从句修饰families，最后that they may outlive...money是that引导harsh reality的同位语从句。
2. Both the absolute cost of healthcare and the share of it borne by families have risen – and newly fashionable health-savings plans are spreading from legislative halls to Wal-Mart workers, with much higher deductibles and a large new dose of investment risk for families’ future healthcare.(2007. 阅读. 【析句】这个长句只含有一个破折号，注意破折号通常起到进一步解释说明的作用。首先抓主干，Both...and... have risen，主语由both...and连接；破折号后，and连接与主句并列的句子newly...plans are spreading from...to Wal-Mart workers,逗号后，with+and连接的两个名词（higher deductibles and new dose of investment risk）作伴随状语。
3. Even demographics are working against the middle class family, as the odds of having a weak elderly parent – and all the attendant need for physical and financial assistance – have jumped eightfold in just one generation. (2007. 阅读. Text 3)

【析句】例句3运用了两个破折号，破折号之间的成分通常为插入语。先看主句，demographics are working against the middle class family,之后是as引导原因状语从句as the odds...have jumped eightfold...，注意从句被破折号之间的插入语and all the attendant need for...assitance割裂.
