2014考研英语倍数、增长、百分比表达法
英语倍数的表达从我们初中起就开始学习运用，现在对于2014年考研的研友们来说更是不能放过的，虽然英语倍数的用法体现是地方不如其他语法多，先我们也不能发过任何可以帮助我们提分的可能。下面太奇考研英语辅导老师对考研英语倍数的用法做了归纳希望能够帮助同学们在以后做题过程中更好的运用。一、 英语中有些词表示特定的倍数。
例如： again (一倍), twice, double (两倍), triple (三倍), fourfold (四倍) 等数。
My Aunt is as old again as I am. 我姑姑的年龄比我大一倍。
The top-brand clothes are often sold as double the normal price here.
售价经常比正常的售价高一倍。
The new work procedure tripled the output.
新工艺使产量增加两倍。
The output of grain increased fourfold.
粮食产量增加了三倍。
用double表示倍数
1. double作形容词, “两倍的”。如:
The production is now double what it was ten years ago. 现在的产量是十年前的两倍。
2. double作动词, “是……的两倍”。如:
The output has been doubled in the past five years. 过去五年中产量翻了一番。
二、 %(percent, per cent)+up on+被比对象
Altogether, more than 70 percent of the surface of our planet is covered by water.
我们地球的表面百分之七十以上被水覆盖。
Our factory's output of TV sets in 1998 was 400% up compared with 1980.
1998年我们工厂电视机的产量与1980年相比增长 400%。
The industrial output of last year in our factory was 250% up on that of 2000.
我们工厂去年的工业产量比2000年增加了 250%。(或增加两倍半)
三、inrease表示数量、增强的用法
有两种用法，一个是及物，一个是不及物。
不及物：
1: to become progressively greater (as in size, amount, number, or intensity)
2: to multiply by the production of young
例句：The house increased in value.
及物动词：
1: to make greater : augment
2obsolete : enrich
例句：She increased her wealth substantially.
同义词：accelerate, add (to), aggrandize, amplify, augment, boost, build up, compound, enlarge, escalate, expand, extend, hype, multiply, pump up, raise, swell, stoke, supersize, up
反义词：abate, decrease, de-escalate, diminish, downsize, dwindle, lessen, lower, minify, reduce, subtract (from)
increase 做不及物用时指大小、数量、强度的增加。如：; 用于及物的用法时，指简单而非必要慢慢的增加 (it may imply simple not necessarily progressive addition )
三、times表示倍数的方法
.... times+the+名词(size, height, weight, length, width)+of
Your playground is 900 metres wide, three times the size of ours. 你们操场有900米宽, 是我们的三倍。
This street is four times the length of that one. 这条大街是那条街的四倍长。
This big tree is four times the height of that small one. 这棵大树的高度是那棵小树的四倍。(比那棵小树高三倍)
也可译成: The height of the big tree is four times that of that small one.
