2015考研英语一翻译解析
今年英语一的翻译题来源于1954年出版的美国历史纲要（An outline of American History），距今整整60年。我在课堂上说过出题人未必会选择最近的外刊，英语一可能会选很久很久以前的文章，所以对翻译来说猜题押宝是行不通的，扎扎实实跟着老师练好长难句基本功才是王道。值得一提是，今年的英语一翻译题相比往年在词汇难度上大大降低，主要考察考生对句子结构的把握。
46) This movement, driven by powerful and diverse motivations, built a nation out of a wilderness and, by its nature, shaped the character and destiny of an uncharted continent.
【解析】此句唯一的难点在于并列结构，第一个并列连词and后面是谓宾结构shaped the character and destiny，往前找，和它并列的成分是同样的谓宾结构built a nation，共享主语this movement。driven 词组为插入语，翻译到其修饰的名词前面即可。
【参考译文】在各种强大动机的驱使下，移民运动在荒野中建立起一个国家，并且从本质上决定了这片处女地的特点和命运。
47) The United States is the product of two principal forces-the immigration of European peoples with their varied ideas, customs, and national characteristics and the impact of a new country which modified these traits.
【解析】破折号表示解释说明，前后分开翻译。product引申为产物。后半部分难点仍然是并列结构，需注意第一个and是ideas，customs，与characteristics三个词并列。第二个and连接的是整个the immigration…characteristics部分与the impact…traits部分，即破折号之前所述的两种forces。注意national应译为"民族的"而不是"国家的"。
【参考译文】美国是两种主要力量相互作用的产物--拥有不同思想，风俗和民族特征的欧洲移民，以及新国家重新诠释这些特性所带来的影响。
48) But the force of geographic conditions peculiar to America, the interplay of the varied national groups upon one another, and the sheer difficulty of maintaining old-world ways in a raw, new continent caused significant changes.
【解析】 peculiar独特的，为构成形容词短语作conditions的后置定语。此句难点在于主语部分长，为the force, the interplay以及the difficulty 三个核心及它们修饰语的并列。谓语动词是caused。
【参考译文】但是美国独特的地理条件，不同民族的相互影响以及在这一全新大陆维持旧世界的生活方式所产生的困难都带来了重大的改变。
49)The first shiploads of immigrants bound for the territory which is now the United States crossed the Atlantic more than a hundred years after the fifteenth- and sixteenth-century explorations of North America.
【解析】此句较难，bound for意为"准备去，开往"，是个形容词短语，修饰immigrants。which定语从句修饰territory， 注意按上课所说，找主干，抓住主句的谓语是crossed，就不难翻译出来了。对于时间状语，发生在前面的事情可以按中文习惯放在主句之前。
【参考译文】人们在15和16世纪探索了北美洲，一百多年后，第一批移民穿越大西洋，来到这片土地--今天的美国。
50)The virgin forest with its richness and variety of trees was a real treasure-house which extended from Maine all the way down to Georgia in the south.
【解析】with介词短语作forest后置定语，which 从句修饰treasue-house翻译到它前面来，Maine及Georgia首字母大写为美国地名，平时应有一定的常识储备。
【参考译文】原始森林从缅因州绵延到乔治亚州，拥有大量树木且种类繁多，堪称宝藏。
2015考研英语二翻译解析
今年文章来源于www.spring.org.uk，它是一个关于心理学方面的网站。原文标题是：The Well-Travelled Road Effect: Why Familiar Routes Fly By。
真题总字数为156个词，有8句话，词汇及句法难度比较低。
Think about driving a route that's very familiar. It could be your commute to work, a trip into town or the way home. Whichever it is, you know every twist and turn like the back of your hand. On these sorts of trips it's easy to lose concentration on the driving and pay little attention to the passing scenery. The consequence is that you perceive that the trip has taken less time than it actually has.
This is the well-travelled road effect: people tend to underestimate the time it takes to travel a familiar route.
The effect is caused by the way we allocate our attention. When we travel down a well-known route, because we don't have to concentrate much, time seems to flow more quickly. And afterwards, when we come to think back on it, we can't remember the journey well because we didn't pay much attention to it. So we assume it was shorter.
【参考译文】
想想开车去一个十分熟悉的地方，可能是去上班，进城或者回家。无论哪种，你对每个弯道都了如指掌。在这样的路上开车很容易走神，忽视了路边的景色。结果便是你感觉旅途的时间比实际变短了。
这个就是熟路效应：人们在熟悉道路上行进是往往会觉得时间变短。
这种效应是由我们分配注意力的方式引起的。当我们在熟悉道路上行进时，因为我们注意力不太集中的缘故，时间就似乎飞逝了。因此当我们事后回想时，很难记起这段旅程，因为当时根本没有留心。所以我们就认为时间变短了。
